We’re chatting with members of the team at Regital about what makes them who they are. From the professional to the personal this is Prim, our Finance Director and new found fitness fanatic.
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?
My name is Prim Patel, and I am the Finance Director at Regital. I’ve worked in finance for almost thirty years, so I like to think I know what I’m doing by now. I’m what is termed a Portfolio Finance Director which used to be known as freelance. I work with a select group of high-growth businesses whereby I work with the leadership teams to build financial foundations for growth. I also provide advisory guidance to executive board directors on finance and corporate strategy.
How did you get started in digital marketing?
I worked in a variety of manufacturing companies early in my career, such as print, transport and construction. Then around ten years ago I started working with a digital marketing agency. I quickly realised my skill-set and capability to help shape early stage growth was a big asset in the sector. Since then (and mainly through referrals), I’ve become a specialist in working with marketing and technology businesses that are looking to scale or exit through acquisition. I’ve never really given it much thought to be honest. I didn’t specialise in the sector by design, but I love the pace and vitality of digital.
What are good skills for your role?
The role of FD has evolved beyond all recognition during my time in the profession. It used to be about explaining the past. Now it’s about strategic advice and looking to the future. You need to be able to articulate risk and reward through a commercial and financial lens. Understanding where the money is made in order to unlock growth and drive value. Communicating effectively is another essential (especially in this industry), as you’ll typically work across the business from junior team members through to investors, along with customers large and small.

What are you into - tell us some of your interests?
I joined a fitness group a few years ago and given what we’ve all been through the last few years, it was a great outlet. We’ve undertaken a load of challenges that quite frankly, I still can’t believe I’ve undertaken. We hiked up Snowdon, have gone open water swimming, I’ve been on a bike ride for the first time in something like 30 years. It’s paddleboarding up next, which I’m really looking forward too – and that’s something I never thought I’d hear myself say.
What’s your proudest moment?
Would saying my daughter be too cheesy? Seeing the business I work with reach their potential is hugely gratifying professionally. Helping founders realise exit is always a massive thrill but I can’t say much more as I’m under NDA when that happens.
What’s the best thing about working here?
The energy. Maybe it’s because I’m one of the more venerable members of the team, but I absolutely adore the fearless energy the team has from top to bottom. It’s a rare trait, and one I’d love to be able to bottle.
What’s your desert island disc?

What’s the strangest food you’ve eaten?
I was served Rabbit once when I ordered mushrooms on toast. That wasn’t a great experience.
